On Global Parents’ Day, we should all cherish the very special people that are responsible for bringing us onto this Earth. Whether they are with us today or have sadly departed, commemorate them. Other than our relationship with God, the bond of love between parents and their children is unparalleled.
On this day, we should reflect on the love our parents have showered upon us – how above all they prioritised our needs, and have done their best to fulfil our wants. In this reflection, we should reaffirm our intent to respect them and where conflicts had arisen, ask for forgiveness through pratikraman.
For just as the Vitaraag Lords (absolutely detached Lords) and countless saints served their mothers and fathers throughout their lives, our sacred duty is to honour them and to serve them. In so doing, we bind the greatest merit karma.
In the words of Gnani Purush, Dada Bhagwan, founder of Akram Vignan, “If you give happiness to your mother and father, then happiness arises in you. Those who make their mother and father happy, are never miserable. Those who serve their mother and father are never miserable. The miseries in this era of the time cycle are in fact due to not being able to serve one’s mother and father.
We should all commemorate our parents today with sincerity and affirm your intention to ensure to respect and serve them. In doing so, we unlock the key to worldly happiness.
