National Sunday - XMAS Special

06 January 2021

Given the year we’d all had, a little merriness and festive cheer was exactly what was needed to boost our spirits. The final National Sunday of 2020 focussed on doing just that. Held on 20 December 2020, the X-mas Special began with a cheerful welcome followed by a choir-style Trimantra and Asim Jai jai kar. All Vidhis/prayers were done with the inner intent that the current obstacles of the world disappear. There were specially selected videos, a Xmas craft of napkin folding, and wellbeing tips that could be initiated over the Christmas period as a precursor for good habits to cultivate for 2021.

The recital of Christmas message brought home the true meaning of celebrating this festival - finding true happiness through giving to others. Dadashri has said, ‘More important than a person’s external actions of obliging others are his internal intents (Bhav) to help.’

Santa Claus spreads joy to all, so this Christmas, mahatmas were encouraged to become a Santa for not only loved ones, but to all by having the intention to spread joy and happiness through Dada’s Akram Vignan.

Our GNC kids usually have a busy year, and 2020 was no exception. In fact, it seemed as if the kids had become even more active virtually than ever before! A round-up of 2020 showcased the Mission Home puppet show and various virtual events like summer camp, Bal Garba, and Xmas celebrations!

Covering the highlights of the whole year in just 20 minutes was no mean feat, considering there were some record-breaking firsts! The Mission Home exhibition heralded the start of 2020. Little did we know what the rest of the year had in store for us. The powerful message of Mission Home: to attain permanent happiness in our Real Home – the Self, became our motivational mantra for the coming months when the outside world came to a standstill. Virtual satsangs became the norm be it the daily live satsangs of Pujyashree, or event celebrations like International Yoga day, Navratri, Diwali, New Year, Pujya Dada’s Janmajayanti, Pujya Niruma’s birthday, and even Xmas. All mahatmas enjoyed these with much zeal. The virtual opening of Dada Darshan Leicester, Akram Diwali Cook-off, and Akram Quiz for Niruma’s birthday were some of the key 2020 events that were like the icing on the cake.

Christmas carols are songs of praise and joy. All mahatmas joined wholeheartedly in the first ever virtual candlelit Akram carol service – “Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, we are spreading Dada’s Mission all around the world” ... bringing the year to a close with the Salvation of the world prayer.
