Niruma's Birthday Celebrations

Virtual Birthday Celebration for Our Beloved Niurma: Mother of the World

05 January 2021

Our beloved Niruma’s Birthday is always a special event! This year, Kent and Ruislip Centres were paired together to present Niruma’s virtual birthday celebration on Sunday 6 December 2020.

As soon as mahatmas came online, there was excitement, anticipation, and positive energy in the air. After a warm welcome and brief introduction, the virtual event started with a wonderful song ‘Tari Hunfe maru Jivan’ meaning ‘The warmth of your presence fills my life with warmth and affection…’, touching everyone’s heart.

The specially selected ‘Energiser’ and Niruma: Mother of the world video rekindled fond memories of Pujya Niruma. Whether one has met Niruma in person or not, all connected with her through these recordings. The special video highlighted quite a few UK mahatmas with Niruma celebrating key events like Kingsbury Centre opening, Gurupurnima, UK Shibir, etc.

There were several personal experiences from some of the UK mahatmas expressing their love and fondness for their cherished Niruma. They shared how Niruma had touched and made a tremendous difference in their lives, through her Jagatkalyan ni Bhavna, Gnan operations done, her multi-talents and her pure love. This was palpable to all mahatmas tuned in for the session.

The experience was made poignant by a few Mahatmas who performed Antakshari, a series of singing songs that were either penned by Niruma or were expressing our love and devotion for Her. This truly turned a popular musical game into a melodious devotion! And also revealed some hidden talent in our mahatmas!

This was followed by the highlights of a quiz dedicated solely to Niruma’s life. This saw the introduction of our very own quiz hosting platform – Akram Quizzy. Ruislip and Kent mahatmas participating in the quiz were set some homework – to read the Dadavani and the Akram Express dedicated to Niruma. Although played as a competition, all the participants were winners, having learnt the importance of reading Dada’s material and the encouraging impact that this has had in their lives.

Our GNC kids blasted the day with a special performance - sharing their outstanding knowledge about Niruma’s younger years. This was followed by 5 to 7-year-old kids singing heartfelt songs to our ‘mother of the world’ remembering every single word by heart…

A birthday celebration is never complete without cake cutting, or in this case ‘Papdi no lot’ cutting ceremony. The recipe to Pujya Niruma’s favourite dish, Papdi no lot (steamed rice dough), had been shared with mahatmas ahead of the event. A special 76th Birthday cake and Papdi no lot beautifully shaped as 76 took centrestage. All mahatmas present participated in the Virtual ceremony by cutting the Papdi no lot or cake that they had lovingly made for Niruma. This was accompanied with a beautiful medley – ‘Ghanu Jivo’ (‘May you live long’) pad sung live with heartfelt passion.

The entire 90 minutes or so flew by so quickly leaving Mahatmas wanting more…

Finally, special thanks and heartfelt gratitude to all those Mahatmas who tirelessly spent their time in preparing and organising this memorable event.
