Small Changes Make a Big Difference!

14 January 2020

14th January 2020 will mark the much-awaited Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti, the first festival of this new decade. It is one of the key traditional events, celebrating the sun’s journey into the northern hemisphere and the start of spring. The event of Uttarayan includes kite flying and indulging in delicious sesame sweets.

During this much-anticipated calendar event, one beckons the end of the cold winter season and the beginning of longer warmer days. As the body feels the benefits of warmer days and we look ahead to happier times, shouldn’t we at this time consider the happiness of those around us too?

Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan says: “No one should feel hurt by you, you should make everyone happy and leave”.

So, let us begin the new season of Uttarayan, with a deep inner intent of making a positive difference in the lives of those we love and meet. We don’t have to be in India to be part of Uttarayen celebrations, everyone throughout the world can take part in the festivities by bringing joy into the lives of people we are close too.

Simply introduce these into your life:

  • Maintain deep inner intent to help others.
  • Put the needs of others above your own.
  • Finally, never expect anything in return.

If we think back to our happier times, when did we feel the happiest? Was it not when we did something for someone else rather than for our self? Hence, the greatest happiness is experienced by helping others, making someone happy or putting the needs of others before our own. Small changes make a huge difference in our life as well in the lives of others. So what are you waiting for?
